Shepreth Wildlife Park

Year 1 visited Shepreth Wildlife Park. The children had a wonderful time seeing many animals including meerkats, otters, lemurs, capuchin monkeys, red pandas, bats, owls, a tiger, a leopard, a lynx, a coati, llamas, capybara, giant tortoises and many others. They enjoyed a talk all about how animals use camouflage and had fun looking for very well camouflaged animals in pictures. They examined a snowy owl feather and identified it as from a female bird because it had brown markings on it. They were fascinated to hear that a tiger is orange and black because its favourite prey cannot see the colour orange - instead seeing green - which means that it is well camouflaged in its hunting grounds. There was also plenty of time for lunch and play!
